We recently caught up with Zandile Blay, one of our fashion forward models from the Tommy Ton Eye on the Street photoshoot and founder of TheBlayReport.com. Here's what she had to say about wearing eyewear as an accessory and her Ginza frames from Eyefly.
How big is your eyewear collection and how would you describe it?
Every season it starts out huge. From tortoise shell YSL shades to my favorite opticals, my wireframe Ginza's from Eyefly.com. But by the end of the season I'm usually down to one thanks to friends who 'borrow.'
What's your favorite eyewear look this fall?
This fall, I love to keep things sleek and chic with weightless wireframe glasses.
We heard you wore your Eyefly Ginza frames at Fashion Week! What was your outfit and how were the Ginza frames a great fit with the whole look?
I can't - in good conscience - say my Ginza's fit with the look, but my Ginza's did balance it: I wore a spandex body suit with black pumps.
What inspires your eyewear selection each day?
Necessity. My Ginza's allow me to see in style putting them at the top the pile for me every single day.
Who is your eyewear icon and why?
My former editor, Mr. Mickey Boardman. 'Nuf said.
What was your very first pair of glasses?
Believe it or not, my Ginza frames from EyeFly. (Great first pair, huh?)
What's your favorite memory involving glasses?
Seeing my dad, a fellow journalist, wear his before typing his articles.
What word comes to mind when you think of eyewear? I say glasses, you say...
